Bajaj Motorcycles, which has been trying to recapture its second position in the bike market from Honda, has recently unveiled a new variant of its Pulsar 200NS in Indonesia called Bajaj AS200 (Adventure Sports). The new bike has come more as a surprise because the company never revealed that it had any such plan or there was any project for a new sports car in the pipeline. Incidentally, it also showcased, on the occasion, its Pulsar SS200 to certain selected people at its testing track.
While the full technical details are still not revealed, all that we could gather is that the new bike is based on Pulsar NS200. Several components of the new bike like engine, radiator, wheels, tires, brakes, seats, shocks, rear fairing etc. are very akin to that of Pulsar NS200. The windshield of the new bike however is a little taller. The vehicle’s 199.5 cc single-cylinder liquid cool engine produces 23.52 PS and 18.3 Nm of torque when mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It is however not clear whether the bike would have fuel injection or would go for the traditional carburetor system.
Pulsar AS200 features new headlamp assembly that sports a projector light and a regular multi-reflector one with pilot lamps in both the top corners. With a comfortable and quite a relaxed seating position and a fairly big windshield, the bike looks stunning in its beauty. It is basically aimed at those who are fond of moving out of the city for long drives. The bike is expected to be available in India soon enough though the price has not been indicated by the company.
