Recently Facebook Messenger launched its own website, but people do not seem to be interested in using it. Now Google is following the same strategy and launched its own website for Google Hangouts. This website gives easy access to users for initiating audio or video calls, or chat conversations. Google also announced the full name of Android M called Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
From today you can go to http://hangouts.google.com to make a phone call, video call or ping a friend. Jordanna Chord (Google's Software Engineer) announced that the new Hangouts interface on her Google+ account on Tuesday and stated that - 'From our new site you will be able to take advantage of the best of Hangouts in the browser, along with an inspiring image to get you through the day.' Facebook Messenger was broken directly out of Facebook after launching a separate website for Facebook Messenger. But Google Hangout hasn’t broken away from the Google domain yet.
After opening the new Hangouts website, a few cards will be displayed detailing the website and the service. The full list of Google Hangouts conversations is shown at the left side of the screen. At the right side and the center 'Hi [first name]!' will be displayed along with three circular buttons placed below for starting a video call, message or phone call. At the left of the conversation, there is an option to jump to the contacts and phone calls tabs. The new Hangouts website also has a hidden side panel which is similar to the side panel of Google+.
