Google has been coming out with innovative ideas every now and then. The latest in the series is a website brought out for the fasting Muslims during the holy month of Ramzan beginning this week. The site, called ‘My Ramadan Companion’ is formally launched on the 17th June with the objective of providing customised local information throughout Ramzan with the assistance of the best technology Google possesses in its armoury.
This is not the first attempt of Google on this score. It came out with helpful tools for the Christmas with its Santa Tracker apps and websites. The focus this time has been on Muslims, and the website it developed is to provide information on local timings for Ramzan, including the sunrise and sunset timings. Besides, it gives information on other related spheres, like food, entertainment, traffic status, cooking tutorials, etc.

While launching the tool, Zain Kamal Masri, Associate Product Marketing Manager, Middle East and North Africa, Google explained: "To help you get the most out of Ramadan, we've launched My Ramadan Companion (g.co/Ramadan), which gives you customized and locally relevant information, tips, and other content highlighting the richness of what the web can offer during Ramadan around you. You can find out the sunset time in your location and plan your day accordingly, check out the traffic in your area, navigate to the closest charity Iftar, find and share recipes, and enjoy Ramadan content on YouTube ranging from drama series and comedy sketches and health tips to stay fit during the 30 days of fasting".
Apart from English, My Ramadan Companion is available in Arabic, Turkish, Bahasa Indonesian and Bahasa Malayasian languages as well.
