Hyundai has launched the i20 Active in India starting at Rs 6.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol model, and Rs 7.63 lakh for the diesel model. The i20 Active is the cross version of the standard i20 hatchback. The i20 Active gets cosmetic changes to give it a more standout. The company has come up with a brand new model for the Indian automobile enthusiasts in the form of Hyundai i20 Active . This latest series is introduced as a compact crossover with a total length of just under 4-meters. The manufacturer has rolled out this new model series in two petrol and three diesel engine options for the buyers to choose from. Both these motors are borrowed from the existing Elite i20 hatchback.
Interiors:
The interiors of Hyundai i20 Active looks far better then Elite i20. The i20 Active continues with the well-appointed cabin of the standard hatchback, but with a new color combination. At the same time, there are a lot of metallic and chrome accents given inside the cabin that renders a regal stance to the cabin. The i20 Active carry forward the Elite i20 dash but it features two color options either all black with orange hues or all black with blue palettes. Other changes made to the cabin are new upholstery.
Exteriors:
Hyundai will make the global debut of the i20 Active on 17th of March and the automaker has also revealed the images of the vehicle. Like any other crossover available currently, the Active also looks like a strong version of its hatch-back with some noticeable changes on it. Hyundai Active gets inverted Elite i20 grille which turned out and also gets a silver faux bash guard. The biggest change over the Active i20 is addition of projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs which were missing on the Elite i20 hatch. The new car gets full-body black plastic cladding, redesigned bumpers incorporating hexagonal grille. The i20 Active gets 190 mm of ground clearance compared to Elite's 170 mm.
Engine:
The manufacturer claims that it has done some improvements to the Hyundai i20 Active compare to Elite i20. The newly launch Active can achieve a top speed mark of 180 Kmph in 15 second, whereas Elite is capable of achieving 100 Kmph in the same time frame. The second gen U2 1.4 CRDI diesel generates 90 PS and 220 Nm of max torque while the 1.2 Dual VTVT petrol makes 83 PS and 114 Nm. The engine options are the same - 1.2-litre Kapp2 petrol and 1.4-litre CRDi diesel - that power the i20 hatchback. While the 1.2-litre petrol engine is good for 82bhp and 114Nm, the diesel churns out 89bhp and 220Nm.
