Many of those who are fond of playing Youtube files might have felt the need for the playback facility with the screen off. This had been a dream since long. Fortunately, the dream now apparently seems to have been fulfilled with Youtube coming out with a modified and improved application that would allow playback even when the screen is off. The XDA developer has since modified the Youtube 4.4.11 application so that the feature of playback with screen off can be possible.
For getting the benefit of this modified application, one does not need to have the root privilege on the device. Before he installs this app, he will need to remove the existing YouTube app from his phone. He can use an app like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer and navigate to /system/app directory on his Android device and simply delete the YouTube app from there.
Once the older version is uninstalled, the user can install the modified Youtube app. On installation he has to go to the Advanced Settings panel and enable the ‘Screen Off Playback Option’. With this task completed, it will now be possible to playback Youtube files without having to open the screen.
