Motorola will soon be rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA update to the Moto X Gen 2 Smartphone. As reported earlier, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update focuses on notifications, settings option, camera and overall performance. On Friday, March 20th, Motorola posted the change-log on its customer support portal, which suggests that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update's release for the Moto X Gen 2 is not too far away.
According to the change log on Motorola's website, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Moto X (Gen 2) handset will allow users block interruptions until the next alarm, alter notification volume while media is playing, dismiss a head-up notification and swipe it up to remove it from the screen. The Device Protection feature will ensure that a user's device remains locked if stolen or misplaced until it is signed into with the relevant Google account. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tiles in Quick Settings will get pull-down menus. Besides a new pull-down menu for quickly selecting different Wi-Fi access points or paired Bluetooth devices and post the update. Moto X (Gen 2) users would also be able to hide conditional setting tiles in case they are using features like 'Invert Colors' or 'Hotspot' .
Motorola claims that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update will also reduce the noise-level in low-light shots and will bring improved responsiveness of the front-facing camera's viewfinder. The company also claims to have made improvements in ART -Android Run Time - which will result in faster opening of apps. It is anticipated that the update will be pushed off in the coming weeks.
