Tata’s Nano first made its entry in the India’s automobile industry in early 2008. The acceptability of the vehicle was low despite the hype of an affordable car for the common man. Called as a poor man’s car, the sale did not pick up at the anticipated rates. Tata however went on bringing about several modifications. Today Tata Nano is getting a fair publicity in its new avatar – the new models of Nano.
Tata Nano has launched a series of new models recently. The petrol variants are CX, Twist XE, LX, Twist XT, while the lone CNG variant is called CNG XM. The prices are between Rs 2.00 lac to Rs 2.40 lac ex-showroom at Delhi. While it would not be feasible to discuss each of the above variants, we would keep ourselves confined to talking about Tata Nano Twist.
Tata Nano Twist is powered by a 624cc, multi-point fuel injected, water cooled, naturally aspirated, 2 cylinder gasoline-engine. The engine with 2 valves per cylinder is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, producing 38PS power and 51 Nm torque. As per the certification given by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), it is considered to be the most fuel efficient petrol car with mileage in excess of 25 kms per litre.

Tata Nano Twist is available in five different colours. With the overall length of the car being 3099 mm and ground clearance of 180 mm, it can accommodate 4 persons. The fuel capacity is 15 litres. The boot space is some 500 litres with folding of the rear seat, while without folding the seat, it has space of 80 litres. The bumpers and door handles are of body colours with front and rear chrome strips. Equipped with front fog lamps, tinted glasses and front wipers and washers, the exterior of the car looks attractive. The seat upholstery is of premium beige fabric/trendy sporty black fabric. Dashboard is good looking and useful and the seats are of premium quality. In totality, the car does give a different look as compared to the original version of Nano of the last decade.
