A news for all those who are very much familiar with the 3D printing space. On 5th Jan 2015, a company by the name of 3D Systems -DDD announced that it had acquired U.K. based 3D printer maker botObjects and planned to launch the CubePro C - a new full-color 3D printer powered by botObjects technology. The announcement might have come as a major surprise to those who are in the know of things. As you may be aware botObjects is a company that provided a lot of support and hope in regard to consumer level 3D printing space.
The company however did not reveal the terms of the transaction, but looked forward to for gradual growth during its 2015 results. It invited International CES 2015 attendees to experience its revolutionary CubePro C for the first time this week at the 3DS booth, located at the Sands Expo. CubePro C is the first color 3D printer that would surprise many. In addition, it is fairly inexpensive in the market today. Like the most color 3D printers, the latest CubePro C has a monotone substrate and then mixes CMYKW pigments into it as needed to create the final colored material.
The printer features a dual-extruder to give-out a dissolvable PVA support material that can be removed as a finally printed document. Just like the other new printers, it claims to be completely self-calibrating and functioning on its own. The botObjects ProDesk3D will quickly be folded into 3D’S new CubePro C printer family to deliver a true full-color experience. This system is available at an affordable price of $4,990.

The new CubePro C is capable of printing down to 25-microns layers at deposition speeds of up to 175 milli-meters per second using durable PLA and ABS print materials with PVA support material.
