Hero Motors’ new entrant, Hero Maestro 125, will soon be seen on the Indian roads. It would have a pretty sobering look with attractive smooth lines. The bike will be powered by 125 cc engine. The salient features include an ample storage space and broad rear body panel. The power to weight ratio of 78.18 bhp/ton will be an added advantage.
The bike with its fuel tank capacity of 5.3 litre, is reportedly giving an overall mileage of 58 kms per litre. In the city in the midst of traffic, however, the mileage is lower at 54 kms/litre, while in the highway, it is about 62 kms/litre. As regards the dimension, it has a height of 1165 mm, length of 1780 mm and width of 710 mm. The kerb weight of the scooter is 110 kg. The vehicle is apparently sturdy with high rigidity underbone type chassis. The bike’s front suspension has Bottom Link while the rear suspension has Unit Swing - both with spring loaded hydraulic damper.
It flaunts air-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder OHC self start engine with displacement of 109 cc. The max power and max torque are 6.0 kW (8.2 Ps) @ 7500 rpm and 9.10 N m @ 5500 rpm respectively. Both the brakes – front and rear - are of drum internal expanding shoe type (130 mm) (CBS), and are considered reliable. In regard to the electrical fittings, it is equipped with a 12V -3 Ah MF battery with Halogen bulb headlamp and multi-reflector Tail/Stop lamp. While it is a low-cost (less than Rs 50,000/- ex-show room at Delhi) bike, essentially useful for those travel within the boundaries of a city, it is considered good for long out-of-the-city drive as well.
