A new application called Heart Health Meter (HHM App) has recently been launched at Thane (India) by a team of doctors and IT professionals from Madhavbaug – an ISO certified private cardiac rehabilitation centre with branches across Maharashtra – that would not only be monitoring the status of your heart but would also giving recommendations and tips. The application - available for Android devices - can be downloaded free from Play Store and installed on your smart phone.
Rohit Sane, Trustee and MD of Vaidya Sane Trust – the parent organization of Madhavbaug – said that with increasing age, conditions like diabetes, excess weight, smoking, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels damage our blood vessels and the heart, thereby increasing our risk of getting a heart attack. He further explained that the ‘Heart Health Meter’ calculates this risk and offers recommendations and tips on how to manage the risk. Sane opined that taking treatment early for these risk factors would reduce chances of developing a major heart condition and getting a heart attack. It is thus a very valuable app on health care and is likely to be very popular soon.
In view of the widespread use of smartphone, it was felt that the app through the mobile would catch the imagination of the masses and would become a useful utility soon. While the app is currently launched for Android devices, it would be made available for iOS and Windows platforms as well. It is hoped that the endeavor would be helpful in raising awareness among people about the heart diseases, since knowing your heart's health is the first step towards taking care of this vital body organ.
