The world has been undergoing a sort of rapid development in the sphere of digital technology with innovative gadgets appearing virtually every single day of the year. The Android Auto is one such innovation that has taken the developed countries by storm. It was introduced earlier in 10 countries, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, etc. The technology is being introduced in another 18 countries including India now.
Now, what exactly is Android Auto? It is basically an in-car operating system with smartphone projection standard developed by Google. It allows a mobile device to run Android Operating System (version 5 and above) for use in automobiles through the dashboard head unit. The Android Auto has simple and intuitive interface that has been designed to work with Android Phone (Lollipop or higher version) with minimal distraction while the vehicle is in motion.
Android Auto will now be available for newly purchased vehicles, and may be offered as a standard feature or optional feature. In fact, Mahindra has already expressed its intention to equip its vehicles, especially sports utility vehicles XUV 500 and Scorpio. Other manufacturers too are likely to follow suit. The latest version of Android Auto would have several new features, like Android Police, and will further have greater degree of reliability in regard to phone-car connection. Driving a car with the new gadget attached (containing state-of-art) would make an altogether different and pleasant experience. Let us wait and see how the new system in the passenger vehicles is received by the car lovers in India.
