Apple has come up with its much-anticipated new ultra-thin notebook, said to be the thinnest and lightest MacBook model launched yet. Philip Schiller, Apple's senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing said that, 'Apple has reinvented the notebook with the new MacBook, and at just two pounds and 13.1mm, it's the thinnest and lightest Mac ever'. The MacBook s priced at Rs 99,990.
The company claims that it is its first fanless Mac. The new MacBook weighs 0.91 kg and is 13.1 mm thin, making it 24 per cent slimmer than even the 11-inch MacBook Air. It is equipped with a 12-inch Retina Display, a new keyboard and track-pad - all packed into a very thin body that weighs just two pounds. The new MacBook is powered by Intel Core M processors, based on Intel's fifth-generation low-power Broadwell architecture. Along with the keyboard is a new 'Force Touch' track-pad which does not click physically, but delivers haptic vibration feedback. A new 'Force Click' gesture detects how hard a person is pressing down on the track-pad in order to trigger alternative functions such as file previews and word definition look-ups etc. Apple will begin selling the new MacBook from 10 April through Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Store and Apple Authorised Resellers.

As far as connectivity is concerned, it features a single USB-c port. This port allows for 5 Gbps USB 3.1 data transfers. It is equipped with 802.11 ac WI-Fi, 4.0 Bluetooth and a HDMI port. A new "terraced" battery design fits into the contours of the milled unibody, delivering up to 35 percent greater capacity in the same amount of space.
