When was the last time you purchased an Apple product for less than $150? No answer? Well thats probably because Apple is universally applauded for its reliability and perfomance rather than for its price. Mac mini being no exception. Read on to find out find more about this mini Mac.
If you are wondering what a Mac mini is, it is actually a Mac computer but sans the monitor. The Mac Mini comes in 2 configurations - 2.5Ghz Dual Core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost upto 3.1Ghz, 3MB L3 cache, 4GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM expandable to 8 and 16GB, 500GB HDD SATA drive, the other high end version sings with Intel Quad-Core i7 processor maxing in at 3.3Ghz with a turbo boost from 2.3Ghz. Its packing 4gigs of 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM and is thankfully expandable too upto 16gigs, a 1TB HDD SATA drive comes along. Both versions of the Mac mini come with Intel HD 4000 graphics so its a so-so device for gaming but memory and performance should not be an issue for the average joe. The Mac mini roars the Mac OSX Mountain Lion.
But the real purpose of a Mac mini is high end computing with portability unless you consider a MacBook into the scenario. Nonetheless the Mac mini is petite enough to fit in a purse(a decent sized one), a backpack and even a briefcase. So when you get your Mac mini dont be surprised if doesnt have a display. Its meant to be connected to your HD TV. A wireless mouse and a keyboard can also be connected. You can even connect an external CD/DVD ROM for installing softwares as well as play and burn Dual layered DVDs. The only drawback we found with this was Apple does not give us the remote like it used to with the previous Mac minis but is available for $19(what a bummer) and suddenly also decided to cramp all the ports at the back which include HDMI, 3x USB ports, SDXC card slot, Audio IN and OUT, 3.5mm headphone jack( pretty weird as to why Apple included it since we wont be listening to a box instead of listening to a TV that the Mac mini is connected to), Gigabite Ethernet, Thunderbolt ports and Firewire 800. So the Mac mini can be bought home for $599 for the Dual Core version and $799 for the Quad Core version. Dont forget to watch the video review below to get a better idea of the little guy and comment.
