Apple has yesterday revealed the details of the much awaited smart watch, called iWatch. The announcement was made along with its expected iPhones of higher verson, viz. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. The iWatch – likely to be seen as status symbol - will need to be used in combination with the iPhone. It will however be compatible with not only the recently announced iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus but can also be paired up with iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5. The device is scheduled to be out for sale in the beginning of next year.
The brightly coloured aesthetically designed iWatch will be in two sizes, viz. 38mm and 42mm height, and in three different versions – Sport, Standard and Luxury edition. The designing and finishing is good, but some people feel that the smart-watch looks too masculine in its outlook. That could possibly dent its acceptability to some extent. That apart, the iWatch is considered a device par excellence. The pricing however, is a matter of differing opinions. It will be available for sale in the USA at 349 USD onward.

The iWatch is shaped like a traditional time piece with a small square display. The watch-display can be customised – digital or traditional with hour/minute hands - as per user’s preference. The wrist band can either be the leather one or of stainless steel. The watch will display timings accurate to +/- 50ms and can show the time no matter where the user is stationed.
Apart from being a watch, it functions as a comprehensive health and fitness device, where the accelerometer takes measurement of body-movements and keeps a track of not only the heart-rate but distances as well through the Wi-Fi and GPS of its paired iPhone.
The digital crown enables the users to interact with the watch without having to obstruct the screen. The intelligent personal assistant (Siri) allows transmissions of smart messages. It recognises voice commands and its speaker is water resistant. It allows controlling music played through the iPhone, computer or even this device and is fairly user-friendly.
