Asus has recently unveiled its fitness-centric wearable – VivoWatch – that will significantly change the standard of such gadgets in the future. A very significant change is in regard to its power consumption. VivoWatch claims to operate for as long as 10 days with just a single battery-charging. If the reports are true, this is going to be a major landmark for smart-gadgets. Another leak is about its operating system – the VivoWatch will be running on Windows. If the story is true, the wearable would be the first one operating on Microsoft platform.
Asus has not made experimentation of this nature for the first time. Its Android run watch –ZenWatch – released barely four months ago did make ripples in the gadget market. The focus on the present wearable has been on extending its power-consumption to a sizeable extent, and it did succeed on this score. Its unique feature of super long battery providing a 10-day power life with a single charge is sure to catch the imagination of the youngsters – especially those who are on the move. The power-saving black and white display mode is there to save power with a greed LED light strip below.
While there are no official disclosures in regard to pricing, specifications or possible date of launch, the information revealed so long do give indications that the gadget would be popular one. This elegant, nice looking gadget has a tough stainless steel body having got IP67 rating against dust and water. The Bluetooth SIG has certified VivoWatch for various Bluetooth 4.0 functions, and has described it as a ‘health watch which can detect heart-rate and sleep data’. Predictably exchange of data with a mobile device will be easy and trouble free. Now, let us wait for the gadget to come to the market. Meanwhile, there are rumours of Asus next version of ZenWatch hitting the market sooner than later. Quite some revelations are on the anvil.
