Blizzard Entertainment Inc. after tackling online strategy and role-playing games, now aims at the shooter genre. The company has announced the release of a multiplayer shooter PC game called Overwatch on Friday. It is a team-based, 6v6 multiplayer shooter game with a focus on fun over the top characters.
The game was launched with a gorgeous trailer showing off Pixar-like animation of the Overwatch. Blizzard's franchise development Chief, Chris Metzen, said that "Overwatch" marks the first new creation in 17 years from the franchised through the creator of such long-running game series. The game will feature original superhero-like characters with various skills, such as mechanized gorilla Winston, winged healer Mercy and robotic monk Bastion - blasting each other in six-versus-six matches on a futuristic and figurative rendition of Earth. In the game one team is prepared as the defense while the opposing team is used as variety of powers and skills to capture objectives. There are 12 heroes that are playable at BlizzCon, with more to come in future.
The company arranged an event for promoting sales, and revealed that during the programme held on Tuesday, it got very good response for its products "Destiny" and "World of Warcraft". This has led the company to believe that the eventual results at the end of the third quarter, and that on the conclusion of the financial year would be fairly good and encouraging.
