Electronic Arts (EA) which is a very popular publisher of successful games like Battlefield, Need for Speed and FIFA has changed its distributor for India. The new distributor will be appointed shortly and the identity of the new distributor has not yet been revealed. This news was posted on popular gaming site - IndianVideoGamer.
An independent game store owner said: 'Our only order from Electronic Arts was FIFA 15, We did not take stock of Battlefield: Hardline due to the fact that we were stuck paying the full VAT amount for FIFA.' So he stopped doing business with the company due to non-availability of stock and issues with VAT (value added tax). FIFA is one of the few games that is best selling in India. Despite this there was a very little stock of FIFA 15 last year. According to rumors this was because of cash flow issues within the company.
A product executive at an online store said: 'We were ready to import FIFA 16 from other markets in the event Milestone cannot supply us, but since they are not distributing the game, hopefully the new distributor will bring in the quantity the market needs. So with the change in distributor the quantity can be increased. Eventually, the game will be launched on time in India.
