Canonical and BQ both in partnership have launched its first Ubuntu-based Smartphone and has recently completed its first flash sale. BQ is the company which is well known for making ebook readers, Smartphone and tablets in Europe. The Smartphone named 'Aquaris E4.5' was released in a new version running Ubuntu OS.
According to the company, it is now available across Europe through a flash sales system. The handset's availability details outside the European region are not released as yet. The Smartphone is priced at EUR 169.90. It features a dual-SIM capability and has identical specifications to the original model except the software, which has now been changed from Android to Ubuntu. It is equipped with a 4.5-inch qHD (that is 540x960 pixels) resolution display with 240ppi pixel density. The device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor (Cortex-A7) clocked at 1.3GHz. The handset also flaunts a Mali 400 GPU for handling the graphics, coupled with 1GB of RAM.
The gadget also supports 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and a BSI sensor. Apart from rear camera it also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It features 8GB of inbuilt storage that is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. As far as connectivity is concerned, it houses Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G (HSPA+), GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and FM radio.
