Google’s premium app – Google Earth Pro – is now available for free download. In fact, the app which was earlier available at $ 399.00 per annum has been made free, beginning today. Incidentally, those who have been using Google Earth, would be aware that its pro version has certain additional features worth their price in gold.
Google Earth Pro has proved very popular with businesses, scientists and hobbyists from all over the world for almost a decade now. To quote Stafford Marquardt, Product Manager of Google Earth Pro it “has all the easy-to-use features and detailed imagery of Google Earth, along with advanced tools that help you measure 3D buildings, print high-resolution images for presentations or reports, and record HD movies of your virtual flights around the world”. It is certainly a very high-ended app as compared to the generally used Google Earth.

The differences between the Google Earth and Google Earth Pro are obvious and pronounced. Although the latter uses the same imagery as that by Google Earth, the Pro version provides additional tools designed for business users like the ability to create animation movies and an option to set up measuring areas of polygons or circles. Google Earth Pro further allows map multiple points at once and lets the user access demographic, graphic and traffic data layers.
One can print screen resolution images in Google Earth, in the Pro version he gets premium high resolution photos. In the case of Google Earth, he is required to manually geo-locate geographic information system (GIS) images, but the Pro version helps him to automatically find them. The Google Earth, similarly, lets the user import image files up to a max texture size, while in the case of the Pro version he can get Super Image Overlays, which are more than the max texture size.
