Before releasing the next operating system from Google called as Android M, Google launched the Android M Developer Preview at the end of May 2015. Google promised at the launch that the M Developer Preview would receive a couple of updates before the software becomes stable enough to be officially launched and used by public. Keeping the promise Google launched the first Android M Developer Preview OTA update.
Google is planning to release updates in every month until the OS becomes stable without any bugs. This first update brings in number of changes including up-to-date Android M release platform code, Final APIs for testing and to validate your app, and some other changes. The updates are on-the-air (OTA) and can be updated directly from Smartphone. The users who want to update from computers can also get updates by downloading the image from Android Preview Website. Jamal Eason (Product Manager of Android) wrote on a blog that – ‘We expect all devices currently on the developer preview to receive the update over the next few days. We also posted a new version of the preview system image on the developer preview website.’
The preview can still only be installed on the following devices
1. LG Nexus 5 2. Motorola Nexus 6 3. HTC Nexus 9 4. Asus Nexus Player.
Another preview update is expected to launch before the final launch of the much awaited Android M. The official Android M will be available by the end of this year.
