Google has quietly released a new app for android users called Google PDF Viewer. Google PDF Viewer app offers nothing new but simple functions as the one you would get with a standalone app like View, Print, Search and the most important copy text from the PDF.

As you all know, PDF Viewing is now available directly in Google Drive, but for those environments where this cannot be deployed, Google PDF Viewer offers the same capabilities in a standalone app. The Google PDF Viewer is mainly meant for use in the context of the Android for Work Program, says Google, but all devices with Android 4.0 and higher OS can only install it from Google Play Store. This standalone Google PDF Viewer app can be used for the same capabilities such as to view, print, search and copy text from PDF documents. Unfortunately, you cannot open the app from the Play Store app. In fact, it does not appear on the App Drawer either. The only way to use it is by using a File manager app to navigate to the location of a PDF file.
It is just a new release, so you may face issues, but again it is from Google, you would get frequent updates with new features in the coming dates. Meanwhile, Google has also started updating the Google Drive app for Android to version 2.2 with drag and drop capability and tweaked navigation menu design. You can download the PDF Viewer for Android from the link given below.
