How To Add Non-Gmail Mails (POP/IMAP) In Gmail 5.0

Google has released a major update for Gmail called as Gmail 5.0 for Android. After a long time Gmail gets this update and it's a major 5.0 update for Gmail with many enhancements and features. This app is completely designed based on material concept and exchange support which allows you to add non-Gmail accounts including mails using POP/IMAP settings.

This is one app for all your emails. Check and send email from Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com and all other email accounts right from the Gmail app. You can also add your own domain/work mails using the Exchange support. To do this you need to install Exchange Services Update also. The new material design is very colorful and good looking. Steps On How To Add Non-Gmail E-Mails Automatically In Gmail 5.0

Step 1: Download & Install New Gmail
Update your Gmail with the latest Gmail 5.0 version. After successful installation Open Gmail.

Step 2: Click Add Account
Tap on the down arrow right to your account name and then choose - Add Account. (or)
Click on the Menu button inside the Gmail 5.0 app and scroll to the bottom and click on Settings–>Add account.

Step 3: Choose The Type Of Account
Now it will prompt a window showing available options
  • Google (Gmail or Google Apps)
  • Personal (POP/IMAP) - Yahoo, AOL, other mail services, etc.
After choosing the desired option, enter the mail-id -> Click Next -> Enter the password. Now the app will detects the major mail server settings and the account will be added. In case your mail server details are not fetched you need to Manually enter the POP/IMAP settings. Check below for manual setup.

Steps On How To Add Non-Gmail Mails Manually In Gmail 5.0

Step 1: Click Add Account 
Click Add account and enter your email-id. After entering your email-Id, choose the Manual setup option.
Step 2: Choose The Type Of Account
Now you need to select whether it is a POP3 account or IMAP account. Now enter the password and click on next.

Step 3: Enter POP/IMAP Settings
Get the POP/IMAP settings details like server, port no etc., from the service provider and enter those details. After entering those details click on next. The settings will be validated and the account will be added.

Yahoo Mail – Here one has to select the POP3 protocol and use mail server settings as given below: 
Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) – pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 993)
Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) – imap.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 993)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) – smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465)


Gmail – In contrast to Yahoo Mail, Gmail uses POP3 over an SSL connection, and therefore one has to be doubly sure if the email client supports encrypted connections. The settingsare indicated as under –
Gmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) – pop.gmail.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Gmail Outgoing Mail Server – use SMTP mail address provided by the local ISP or smtp.gmail.com (TLS enabled, port 587)


Hotmail – If one is using Microsoft Outlook and the Outlook Connector, he can define his Hotmail account just like any regular POP3 email account. The settings are as under –
Hotmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop3.live.com (logon using Secure Password Authentification - SPA, mail server port: 995)
Hotmail Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.live.com (TLS enabled, port 587)
