How To Boot Into Safe Mode In Windows 10

A lot has changed with the boot procedure in Windows 10. The boot has become so fast that it literally cannot be interrupted by any of your keypresses. So the keys like F8 will not work to boot into safe mode. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that can help you isolate problems. So follow the steps below to boot into safe mode in Windows 10.

Safe mode disables unnecessary programs and drivers at startup, so you can determine whether it's a basic setting or driver that's causing your issues such as faulty device driver, corrupted software, virus infection and malware attack, which may prevent the PC from booting normally. In the Windows 10 Pro booting into safe mode is extremely easy. Below are the steps to boot into safe mode easily….

Method 1: How to boot into safe mode in Windows 10 using Run

Step 1: Open Run
From your keyboard Press Windows key+R or from search oprn Run and type ‘msconfig’.

Step 2: Select Safe Mode (Minimal)
At system configuration click on Boot tab and select Safe boot option, also don’t forget to check mark Minimal then click on apply.

Step 3: Restart
When you restart your computer it will automatically boot in safe mode and once you are done doing settings in safe mode, don’t forget to turn safe mode off by following the same steps.

Method 2: How to boot into safe mode in Windows 10 without using Run or Command Prompt

Step 1: Open Settings
Open the Settings menu and go to Update & security->Recovery->Advanced startup. Advanced startup will restart your PC in recovery mode.

Step 2: Click on Troubleshoot
After clicking advanced mode you will see three options - Continue, Troubleshoot, and Turn off your PC. Click Troubleshoot to see your advanced options.

Step 3: Click Startup Settings
The Advanced options menu have several options like System Restore, System Image Recovery, Startup Repair, Command Prompt, Startup Settings, and Go back to the previous build. Click Startup Settings to change Windows startup behavior.

Step 4: Click on Restart
A screen with Startup Settings will appear, you just need to click on the Restart button to enable safe mode settings.

Step 5: Press F4
You will be able to see the enable settings in the Startup Settings screen after a reboot is done. Press F4 to enter into Safe Mode. That's all, you are done.
