How To Change The Wi-Fi Channel On Your D-Link Router

5/11/2014

Well friends, if you find your home Wi-Fi connection slow or drops out again and again, it is worth changing the channel in your router that you are presently using. We believe it will very likely fix your speed interference problem. Best of all, it will take just a couple of minutes to make changes in the router. Although it is not quite as simple as changing the channels on your TV, your broadband router has to pick and use a channel to send the data via Wi-Fi.
D-Link
Putting it differently, if you really want to change your Wi-Fi channel to something other than the default one to try and get better signal, you would need to manually switch it to a less crowded channel, or to one not currently used by any other network. This would improve your signal markedly. In this tutorial, we will show you how to effectively use your router to swap to a different channel. Please follow the steps given below for completing the process. Here is how you can do it.
Please login to your Wi-Fi   router, open up a browser and put the Ip for example (192.168.0.1) and then login with the password given for the router.

  • Once are logged in, launch the wireless routers administration interface. The settings required to do this task can be found on the underside of the router.
  • Click on wireless menu that is on the right of the setup menu on the present screen. When you are in the wireless settings, see if it is ticked already. Please then uncheck it and enable channel selection.
  • Now select a value in wireless channel in the drop down menu and apply the settings. From the same panel you can change Name (SSID) as shown in the image below.
Now when you are done, either click reboot button on the left of the screen or turn your Wireless router off and on again. When the router restarts it will work on the new channel.
