Don’t you come across certain interesting TV programmes that you feel inclined to record for playing at your leisure time? In fact, recording live TV programme is one of the features, which most people would like to get onto their laptop or computer. Fortunately, the facility can be had on your laptop with Windows 8.1/8.1 pro OS without much of a hassle, when you can record live TV shows and movies directly onto your computers.
At the outset, you need to install Windows Media Center in your Windows 8.1/8.1 pro pack. Mind it; this is a different application than the Windows Media Player which you get along with your operating system. The Windows Media Center is a priced package that has to be purchased separately.
Here are the steps about adding Windows Media Center to your Operating System:
Search for ‘add features’
Click on ‘Add features to Windows 8.1’
Click on ‘I want to purchase a product key online’ or ‘I already have a product key’ (in case you are already having the product key)
Enter the product key, and click ‘next’
Select the check-box and accept the license terms and click ‘Add features’
In the second stage, you will require to get a TV tuner, which you need to connect to your PC through an internal expansion slot or external expansion port. In the third stage, you require a TV signal source, like a TV antenna.

Finally, you need to set recording options like the place where you would prefer to store your recordings, the quality of recording, control about when to delete the recording automatically, the start time and end time of recording, etc. It may be mentioned here that the recordings are saved as ‘Windows Recorded TV Show’ and the file is created with .wtv file-name extension. This can be converted to a format that could play the recording.
