Photoshop allows designers and photographers to enhance photos in numerous ways. Some photos are edited in a subtle way that the viewer may not even notice unless it is side-by-side with the original photo and others are edited in more drastic ways. The good news is that there is a tutorial for just about anything you would crave to do in Photoshop.
Photo sketch
There is a slightly different way to convert an image into a sketch, one that's usually better suited for objects or landscape photos. We'll learn how to easily convert a portrait photo into a pencil sketch with Photoshop. This version of the tutorial is for Photoshop CS5 and earlier. It’s probably not important if you suck at taking photographs or being labeled an amateur photographer. As long as you picked up a couple of Photoshop photo editing skills, it will still impress those who sees it.

Steps To Transform Photo To Pencil Sketch

Here's the photo I'll be starting with:
before
The original portrait image.
Here's how it will look when we're done:
after
The final portrait to sketch result.
Let's get started!
Step 1: Open the photo that you would like to convert into Pencil Drawing in Adobe Photoshop.
photoshop1
Step 2: Press the short cut key Control + J key (CTRL + J) to duplicate the layer. After that, press CTRL + U and decrease the saturation value to -100.
photoshop
Step 3: Press  CTRL + J again to duplicate the layer and press CTRL + I to make negative effect.
photoshop
Step 4: Then choose the layer style to Color Dodge. You won’t see anything now (all become white).
photoshop 3
Step 5: So, to view pencil strokes (or) depth of pencil tones please apply a Gaussian Blur (From Menu: Filters › Blur › Gaussian Blur) to the top of the layer to become a pencil drawing. Hence, the more you increase the pixel value they more you will see the dark tones of pencil strokes. If you want to have thin sketch lines (soft tones) .. please use lower pixel value.
step 5
NOTE: To see the effective result please check the Preview in Gaussian Blur Dialog box.
