We believe that virtual reality will entirely renovate the way that we interact with the world. Virtual reality will become a conventional technology for the rest of the world. HTC Vive is a forthcoming virtual reality HMD being developed in co-production between HTC and Valve Corporation. It is part of the RE series of products. It is also part of Valve Corporation's SteamVR project. Through a strategic partnership with Valve, HTC hopes to transform the way in which clients interact with technology and the globe around them with the debut of HTC Vive.
The Vive will combine Valve’s Steam VR tracking and input technologies with HTC’s design and engineering ability. There are several competing VR headsets now being developed including the Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift and Sony's Project Morpheus. HTC claims its Vive product will offer "the most immersive experience of any VR package" – a Full Room Scale 360° Solution with tracked controllers, letting you get up, walk around and explore your virtual space, inspect objects from every angle and truly interact with your environment.

The Vive uses two screens (one 1080 x 1200 screen per eye for a total resolution of 2160 x 1200) that refresh at 90 Hz, which also then requires the PC hardware to maintain a constant 90 fps. While this last feature is not controlled by the Vive itself, you can be sure that the minimum hardware specifications recommended by Valve and HTC will be high enough to ensure that it can push that frame rate in every SteamVR title. More than 70 sensors are built into the device including a gyrosensor, accelerometer and laser position sensor that will track user’s head movements as accurately as one-tenth of a degree.
