Smartphones in various designs and models now virtually reign the market with newer models coming up every now and then. It is in such a madding crowd that Huawei’s new phone, Honor 7i has made a place for itself and created a sort of wave with certain innovative features claimed to be the first in the industry. The phone - launched this Thursday - is basically a 5.2-inch full-HD display dual-SIM enabled gadget with Android 5.1 Lollipop as its operating system. The remarkable aspects however are its rotating camera module and the small finger-print scanner on its side panel.
The rotating camera module can be rotated to 180-degree to point forward for clicking front-facing images. This also facilitates taking pictures from different perspective by simply pointing the camera module without having to move the phone. It flaunts a Sony 13 megapixel BSI sensor with 28mm f2.0 lens, and comes with dual tone LED flash. The other salient feature is the presence of a finger-print scanner on the phone’s side panel that is claimed to be the first in the industry and is also said to be the smallest sensor on any phone.

Honor 7i holds 64-bit octacore Snapdragon 616 processor (clocked at 1.5GHz quad-core + 1.2GHz quad-core) with Adreno 405 GPU. The phone has two variants – one with 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage, and another with 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage. It also supports expandable storage via micro-SD card up to the extent of 32GB.This apart, the phone possesses the other usual features. The connectivity options include Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G, LTE etc. The battery is fairly powerful – 3100mAh – supposed to last for the entire day. Huawei Honor 7i would initially be sold in China and the plan for making the gadget available outside China for sale is still not clear. The cost in China will approximately be in the range of 17K to 20K in terms of Indian Rupees depending upon the variant one chooses.
