Hold your breath! A smart-phone from Intex at an unbelievable cost – at below INR 2,000/-. Yes, that is it. Intex has launched only yesterday a budget smart-phone with Firefox OS – called Intex Cloud Fx - available through its retail partner, Snapdeal.com, and that too, at probably the cheapest price in India.
Intex Cloud Fx is light (weight 104 gram) with dimension of 115.9x62.0x 11.8 mm. It is backed by 1 GHz processor and 128 MB of RAM. The 3.5 inch HVGA (resolution 320 x 480) display and capacitive touch screen. It is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) capable. The Camera is a modest 2 MP one that is reportedly fair enough for basic photography and video recording. It possesses a few other essential features like connectivity option of GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, Bluetooth, FM radio and a 3.5 mm audio jack Other features include 46 MB of built-in storage, external memory support for SD Card of up to 4 GB.
The phone’s memory is very low. Some of the applications needing more of internal memory will simply not be functional. While rear camera of 2 MP may be alright for many, the absence of a front camera is another deficiency worth a mention. The power backup, with battery of 1250 mAh, giving talk time of only 4 hours, is again far from adequate.

All said and done, the smart-phone at this offered price seems to be quite attractive. It will certainly meet the needs of those who do love to own a featured phone without having to cough up a fortune. Its limited features will however be a disappointment to some, but then there are many whose needs are limited and who won’t mind renouncing high-end latest applications of little real significance. There are undoubtedly some compromises, but then ‘compromise’ is the name of the game here.
