Let us hope that there are no changes in the present system, and that the internet as a public utility facility remains open and stays neutral.
The issue of open internet and net neutrality came under focus very recently. The matter was raised when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) discussed a set of rules that would allow internet provider with faster access to some website that can afford to pay.
The changes to the existing open Internet and net neutrality rules may probably lead to ‘fast-lane’ services for companies willing and able to pay a higher price for network access, while all the others will be diverted to the ‘internet slow lane’. The proposed change has predictively seen fierce oppositions from several quarters. Those opposed to the changes in open internet and net neutrality called the FCC to reclassify Internet service as a utility service where all users can exercise the right to equal access. Any dilution of the principle of net neutrality that implies non-discriminatory web traffic flow across networks without any impediment in regard to speed will ultimately go against the interest of digital rights.
The concept of net neutrality and open internet forbid any slowing down or even blocking access to any site or sites or discriminating against sites, which cannot afford to pay a toll for preferential treatment or for reasons like taking critical view of Internet providers or challenging their business-models. Needless to say, net neutrality and open internet have important roles in a democratic setup. They are essential elements in bringing about transparency and accountability in the spheres of political environment and social justice. The FCC’s proposal will therefore tantamount to stifling independent views and free speech, and would be viewed as retrograde step
Let us hope that there are no changes in the present system, and that the internet as a public utility facility remains open and stays neutral.

I just cant believe that intelligent people actually think that net neutrally is good. It is just another way for the government to stop free speech. Just like the IRS did by not granting proper status to some people and locking the press out of White House meeting and going into journalist emails to try and intermediate them from reporting the truth. This is the biggest power grab that i have ever seen and I lived through the Nixon administration. The Nixon administration were pikers comparing the lies, corruption and criminal activity against the Obama Administration.
