The New Delhi based Company, Jivi launched its first Smartphone on Thursday. This is extremely affordable at Rs. 1,999. They look forward to sell about 200,000 units of the device, claiming that this would be the cheapest Android Smartphone available in India. The company says, we want to make available a good quality Smartphone at an affordable price, Said Jivi Mobiles CEO Pankaj Anand.
However, the firm will bring newer devices in the coming weeks powered by the latest Android KitKat operating system. This dual-SIM Jivi JSP 20 Smartphone, will be sold exclusively through e-commerce firm Amazon. Jivi JSP 20 features a 3.5-inch - 320x480 pixels display, 1GHz processor and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS. In addition to this it supports 128MB of RAM and 256MB inbuilt storage that is expandable using microSD card up to 32GB. It also sports a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1350mAh battery.

The Indian Smartphone market is giving intense competition to other companies, particularly in the affordable category. According to research firm IDC, 18.42 million Smartphone’s were shipped in India in Q2 2014. This is an entry-level device for new users to understand the concept of Android smart phone. The company is also conducting ground activities to reach users. CEO Pankaj Anand says, we will have the people on ground, across colleges and other places to help them purchase the phone directly from the spot. This is touted as the fastest growing Smartphone market globally. Over 44 million Smartphones were sold out in the country till now.
