We knew our beloved Galaxy Nexus wouldn't be left in the dark after all it had the specs that could easily run Kitkat. We're still not sure as to why the device wasn't supported for official update but who cares, the devs at XDA have worked hard in bringing our devices a wiff of kitkat. Take a look down below.
The Android 4.4 kitkat ROM for Galaxy Nexus is now available. Keep in mind that this is an unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 port so some bugs are to be expected. For the most part the device runs smooth and without any hiccups and almost everything works and it can be used as a daily driver. The bug list is short and not so significant so here it is:
- Some graphics glitch when switching from portrait to landscape in Google Chrome.
- Google Now seems to crash even after updating it.

How To Install Android 4.4 On Galaxy Nexus (GSM version only)
Note : You need to be on the latest version of CWM or TWRP recoveries.
Download the Android 4.4 ROM from Here.
Download the Google Apps from Here.
Download Super User from Here. Flash after Google Apps to gain root.

- Download the .zip & copy to phone (make sure wifi is enabled if dl'd from phone).
- Zip can be installed from either sdcard or with sideload (No need to copy zip to phone if using sideload, see instructions for sideload below).
- MAKE A BACKUP!!!
- DO A FACTORY RESET!!! - this will wipe data & cache!
- Go to install zip from sdcard.
- Choose zip from sdcard.
- Select cm-11-xxxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-maguro.zip.
- Confirm.
- Repeat Steps 5 -8 for gapps.
