The Italian-American auto manufacturer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has launched its premium hatchback Abarth 595 Competizione in India this week. The brand-name Fiat is fairly well known in India since long, and hence it does look quite familiar. The car is a three-door hatchback seen as a replacement of Fiat’s Abarth 500. It would soon be available in five major cities, viz. New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai and will be priced at around Rs 29.85 lakh (ex show-room Delhi).
Abarth 595 Competizione is powered by 1.4 litre T-Jet petrol engine, tuned to deliver 159 bhp of power at 5,500 rpm. It uses Automated Manual Transmission (with manual override) that provides the option of two driving modes –normal or sport mode - depending on how the driver would like this to be used. In the former mode, it offers 206Nm, while in the sport mode, the torque is increased to 230Nm. Further, the multi-functional steering wheel comes mounted with paddle shifters to enhance the user’s driving experience.
The car is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels. The main features include 7inch TFT colour display, leather wrapped steering wheel, Blue & Me hands-free system with USB port, Xenon lights, rear parking sensors and Koni FSD rear suspension. It is also expected to have certain safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), airbags etc. The vehicle will be presently be imported to India and will be available in the range of five shades, viz. Iridato, White, Scorpion Black, Cordolo Red and Campovolo Grey.
