Maruti-Suzuki is going to add yet another feather to its cap when its WagonR MPV – first seen and unveiled in Indonesia International Motor Show in 2013 - will be available for sale in Indian showrooms soon. It is expected to be available for sale in India by 2015-end or early 2016. The company has indeed made a successful attempt to bring out a multipurpose seven-seater vehicle as a compact car that could well be positioned between Maruti WagonR and Maruti Ertigo.

Maruti-Suzuki’s new addition, WagonR MPV is likely to compete with the Datson Go Plus, as both of them are compact seven seater vehicles suitable for mid-sized Indian families. Although there are no official words about the price in India, it is likely to be in the range of Rs 5.00 lakh to Rs 6.00 lakh. Incidentally, Ertigo as the only other MPV and compact car brought out by this company has been fairly popular in India. Looking to the existing trend, it appears, WagonR MPV would similarly catch the imagination of the commuters and travelers here as well.
At the moment, very little is known about the vehicle’s full specifications. However, going by the WagonR’s specifications, it can safely be presumed that the upcoming car would have a fairly decent interior and cabin. The company would be creating enough space within the present parameter for slotting in an additional row of seat. In the process, the vehicle’s length would be slightly more than that of the existing WagonR (3.6 metre). The compromise will perhaps be in regard to the luggage space, which would get reduced when the third row is used for passengers.
