On Thursday July 2014 Microsoft announced that it will cut 18,000 jobs of which 12,500 will be from its recent acquired Nokia's phone division. It says that its intention is to move away from Nokia Android powered X Smartphone portfolio, this essentially means Microsoft will soon totally remove Nokia X series of Android powered Smartphone.
In an internal memo, Nadella described Microsoft as a product generating company for different platforms will now focus on mobile and cloud computing. This memo states that mobile related services which are running now will all go to maintenance which means there will be no updates and services on mobile phone platform.
Nadella did not go into deep about changes in mobile services but just needed a small change in working environment.
