The Massachusetts Institute Of Technology ( MIT ) has invented a new wearable robot that helps in all of your two-handed every day tasks like stirring a cup of Coffee or opening a bottle etc. A group of Mechanical Engineering students have made this glove that adds two long fingers at the either side of the hand.
You do not have to command the robot manually but move your fingers to control them naturally. Mechanical Engineering Graduate student Faye Wu Demonstrated this robot in a new video and showed the working of the robot. She said that robotic fingers are controlled by receiving "the input from sensor glove, that can measure the position of human fingers.
Ford professor of Engineering Harry Asada, said that "this is completely a intuitive and natural way to control your fingers". He also stated that "you feel the robot as an extension to your hand". The most important point that he stated is that, this robot can be folded to one-third its size and make it foldable. We can make this robot as a watch or bracelet, where the fingers pop up and when the job is done, they come back into the watch.
