The Nikon Coolpix has recently released a camera called P340, where P-stands for "performance." It seems, Nikon has rightly named it so, as this camera is really great. While the official price of the camera is $300.95, a number of e-commerce websites, at the time of writing this review, have listed it at discounted prices . Let us see how does the camera perform in the context of its price.
The camera is equipped with a faster f/1.7 lens along with a new control ring. It has slim chassis and 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensor as its precursor like those in the old P330. This P340 is a minor update to the Coolpix P330. There are a few minor changes. For example, while Nikon P340 has skipped over the GPS, it has instead provided Wi-Fi. The performance is resultantly a bit better than the previous one (P330). It features the same glossy black body with dimensions of 103.0x58.3x32.0mm. It is also available in white color. The Coolpix P340 is easy to hold in one hand which makes it comfortable for operation. In addition, its weight (194g) makes it fairly light as compared to the P330. It is so small in size that it could be put into our jeans pocket easily.

Like most compact cameras, this P340 has point-and-shoot feature. It has a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor that can shoot images at 12.2 megapixels. The high speed of f/1.8 at wide angle is definitely a plus point. However, the lens will not go very wide. It can go from 24mm to 120mm on the telephoto end. Users who want better zoom capabilities are advised to examine this camera as well. The battery life is below average as we could manage to shoot only around 199 shots on a fully charged battery.
