Chinese Smartphone maker OPPO has announced a new model earlier this morning called the OPPO R5. OPPO R5 is officially considered to be the thinnest Smartphone ever made globally. The phone is 4.85 mm thick. The company claims it as the 'slimmest Smartphone in the world. The record earlier was held by the Gionee Elife S5.1 that is 5.1mm thick. Now OPPO has broken the record of Gionee Smartphone and now it is on the top as the slimmest Smartphone.
The Smartphone is priced at $499, which amounts to approximately Rs. 30,500 (INR) in the Indian market. The company has not revealed any information on the availability details in the Indian market yet. Oppo R5 features a metallic and ceramic finishes at the corners as announced by the company on Twitter. The phone flaunts a 5.2-inch full-HD screen that is 1080x1920 pixels, AMOLED display that offers a pixel density of 423 ppi. The OPPO R5 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor along with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 405 graphics processing unit (GPU).

On the question of camera in R5, the phone supports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX 214 sensor, 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a LED flashlight. The new Smartphone has come up with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and will be compatible for 4G LTE as well. It also supports a single Micro-SIM and comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage capacity that is not expandable any further. The Smartphone supports VOOC charging technology for a 2000 mAh battery which can charge the battery from 0 to 10 percent in around 40 minutes.
As far as Connectivity options are concerned, it has provision for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, TD LTE, GPRS/EDGE, LTE FDD and Micro-USB. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5 mm audio jack on board.
