Today, Apple has officially launched the final version of OS X EL Capitan. This version is released after the testing of many preview and beta version by many developers. The update is available to download for free from App store for compatible machines. The update is about 6 GB in size and will expand after installation.
The default and simplest method is to just update your existing OS X installation but you could do a fresh install by extracting the installation file, burning it to a USB drive, and booting from it. There are many improvements made in OS X EL Capitan including split-screen window management, improved Mission Control, updated Notes, Mail, Maps, and Photos apps, improved Spotlight search, pinned tabs in Safari and improved performance.
