The world-fame French car-manufacturer, Renault is expected to launch in India its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) called ‘Renault Lodgy’ by this month-end. The vehicle manufactured by Renault’s Romanian subsidiary, Dacia has been called ‘Lodgy’ (derived from the English word ‘Lodge’) to indicate that it could accommodate an entire family along with the luggage comfortably. In fact, with its seven seat configuration and enough of space inside will make it a real family vehicle for long distance expeditions.
Renault Lodgy is not only stylish and sophisticated, but is big in size as well. It is likely to fare well compared to other MPVs of this range. The vehicle has new chrome bar grille and upgraded tail lamps that give it a majestic look from the exterior. The interior is again very aesthetically designed with lot of planning going into it. Apart from the fact that the vehicle is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 7 passengers in three rows, it provides enough space for luggage too. The upholstery is decent and of the finest quality, the infotainment system with touch-screen is remarkable. The state-of-the art instrument cluster coupled with control stalks, power-steering wheel and advance AC make the Lodgy a real premium MPV.
The Lodgy will be powered by 1.5 litre K9k turbo diesel engine. The engine is mated to 5-speed/6-speed manual transmissions. The petrol version of the vehicle is expected to have 1.6 litre petrol engine, similar to the one put on its earlier vehicle, Duster. It may be powered by 1.2 litre TCE turbo charged petrol engine. Let’s now wait and see how does the new MPV fare in the Indian car market.
