The company says this device will be the first to support its 60 GHz WiFi technology and will be available in 2015 January. According to the company this new WiFi can transmit data at a rate of 575 MB per second, which is five time faster than the previous 108 Mbps. This new technology of Samsung WiFi is called as 802.11ad and it is 60 GHz WiFi. Samsung claims this can maintain the top speed by eliminating co-channel interference. It doesn't matter how many devices are on the same network.
A single 802.11ad channel can occupy a area of 2.16GHz around the 60 GHz range. It has a maximum throughput of 4.6Gbps. A single 160 MHz 802.11ac channel maxes out 866 Mbps. There is no 802.11ac chips that support 160MHz channels till now. Multi-stream 802.11ac is capable of similar speeds to 802.11ad. Speaking about the device company says that their new 4.6Gbps WiFi will be integral to development of their Smart Home devices.
