The image of a PC is perceived to be a box-like device with key-board, mouse, monitor, etc. Nothing seems to have changed over the last two decades. But now, a firm from Finland has come out with a unique tiny sized square computer that includes virtually everything - from hardware, software to interface, monetization, etc. This device has been christened Solu by its manufacturers, the Finnish company. Solu is a four-inch wide block of curved, wood-encased computer with an edge-to-edge touch screen that is stunningly beautiful in look.
Solu is the smallest general purpose cloud-based computer ever created that offers the user the ability to store and process data on the cloud. While the data centres are located in Finland, Solu functions as a smart cache with a capacity of 32 GB that is considered fairly reasonable. The device - a 10cm squared block with a thickness of 12mm - appears more like a mobile phone, rather than a PC, but is holding adequate processing power with 2.3GHz processor. It is powered by battery and has Wi-Fi connectivity, and can be operated as a standalone gadget like a smartphone or paired with a keyboard and display for more functions. The display is of up to 4 K.

Solu’s founder, Kristoffer Lawson, believes that people would eventually jump into the cloud-based era of ‘computer-as-a-service’. He while speaking about Solu, explains: “What you are seeing on the screen, these are not just applications or files. Whenever I zoom in on something I immediately start interacting with it and I can share it.”
Solu is presently available on pre-order at kickstarter. It could be sold at around 450 USD, but can be had now from kickstarter at 399 USD.
