Suzuki Gixxer (Called The Street Bike) Full User Review & Specifications

15/9/2014

Hi Friends today we are reviewing about the much awaited bike of the year Suzuki Gixxer. This is my personal review as i bought this bike 3 days ago. It has a new SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology engine and 5-gear transmission. This is completely a new and different engine compared to the previous 150 cc bike from Suzuki which was also having 6-gear transmission. The Design and look of the bike is very sporty which must attract the youngsters. With the Price Tag this bike has, it is going to overtake every bike in this Segment.
Suzuki Gixxer
Engine,  Mileage  & Performance :-
This bike sports a 155 cc powerful engine. Compared to all the 150 cc bikes I personally feel that it is the most powerful engine. The sound of the engine is pretty roaring which gives you a sports bike feel. It has awesome pickup, not just the starting pickup but also while driving in 4th or 5th gear the bike gives good pickup.

Suzuki Gixxer
Manufacturer claims that the SEP technology can give a mileage of 63.1 kmpl, I am getting 45 kmpl as my drive is in city and the engine is new. After two services I feel that it will easily give 50 kmpl in city which is greater than all of its rivals like Yamaha FZ, Honda Trigger etc. Engine has kick option, so there will not be any problem in rainy and winter season.
The engine is very smooth and does not give a single lag. The bike took me 5 seconds to reach 0-60 & 18.5 seconds to reach 100. This may vary depending upon the User.

Suzuki Gixxer
Meter :-
Suzuki Gixxer sports a full digital meter which suits the bike. As you can see in picture it is a very good looking, perfectly designed meter. The Fuel Indicator is on the right and speed on the middle bottom. The Meter also has a Clock at the Centre which is very useful  too see time while driving. It has 2 Trip options Trip A & Trip B which you can adjust yourself. At the Top you have the Tacho Meter which shows the RPM. You can also adjust the maximum RPM on exceeding which the RPM light glows. Meter also has an Gear Indicator.

Tyres, Disc & Silencer :-
This bike sports wide tyres, 6-spoke 17-inch alloy Wheels. The Rear tyre is 140/60 & Front is 100/80. The only sad thing is that there is no Rear Disc available, but I feel that there is no need of Rear Disc, the Controlling of the bike is good enough without Rear Disc. The bike has 266mm Front  disc  130mm Rear Drum.

The bike consist of a sporty & small silencer. The Firing of the bike is roaring which can make others jealous. The sound of the firing doesn’t change even at greater speeds.

Lamps & Indicators :-
The Headlamp is similar to FZ. The rear lamp is very good with the visors the back of the bike looks beautiful. The indicators are foldable. As you can see in picture the indicators don’t break even at full folding.

Suzuki Gixxer
Suspension & Comfort :-
The Rear Suspension is Mono Shock & Front is Telescopic forks. The seating position is perfect and the bike gives great comfort. Though my daily run is 55 Kms the bike gives me great comfort. Small path holes  in the city doesn’t affect the comfort. This is due to wide Tyres and Mono Shock.

Yes Gowtham, i was about to inform the showroom people on my second service to increase the headlight visibility. According to me suspension is okay, but dont know what other customers feel. But headlight visibility is very less. It will be good if company improves it as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

Hi charles,
As Suzuki brand is increasing in India, I dont find problem with spare parts. But I agree that we need to wait sometime for the spares to be available at showroom after informing them to bring.

Dear Gowtham,
Its upon ones choice which bike to bike, but after driving for 2 months now I feel that Gixxer is the winner. So go for it. No issues at all.

Hello Nadeem,
Colors really depend on us. If u ask me then Blue is the best. My ride is making hundreds of heads turn towards me :)

Thanks Ameen good Review, but i am confused between Gixxer & Apache RTR 160(old model) , I have taken test ride for both bikes and I felt Apache built quality is better than Gixxer ( my personal openion or the Gixxer which kept for test ride might be in bad condition [sales person told me that this bike is 3 months old]) also the dual silencer attractive but i doubt the steel finish at the end of dual exaust might comes out easily( i have seen gap between steel finish and plastic for many bikes on road)

please suggest me a bike..
