Vaio Corporation, which parted way from its long time partner Sony last year – has decided to enter smartphone market, and unveiled its first ever phone Vaio VA-10J in Japan yesterday on the 13th March. While there are little information about the availability of this phone in other countries, VA-10J will be put on sale in Japan through telecom operator B-Mobile from the 20th March. The gadget, priced at yen 51,000 (US$ 420) will probably be competing with Sony Xperia line.

The phone – available only in black colour - is 71.3x141.5x7.95 mm in diameter and weighs just 130 grams. With its 5-inch 720 IP HD display and sleek and glossy glass back panel and curved sides, it does look quite attractive. VA-10J has Android’s latest OS - Lollipop - and is powered by 1.2 GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. It has 2 GB memory (RAM) and 16 GB internal storage, expandable to 64 GB via micro SD card slot. The battery is powerful and good. It is 2500 mAh non-removable one, claimed to be giving 13 hours of talk time and 500 hours of stand-by time. The phone also has inbuilt proximity, accelerometer, gyroscope and ambient light sensors.
As regards the cameras, the gadget is equipped with 13 MP of rear camera and 5 MP of front lens. It has 4G LTE support as well. The usual set of connectivity options, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, are also available. As a whole, the phone is good indeed, and is likely to make a niche for itself in the smart-phone market. In terms of its appearance, it is comparable with Nexus 4, while, it is closer to Panasonic Eluga U2 in regard to features and hardware.
