Those fond of sending and receiving instant messages through smartphones are at times handicapped on account of unavailability of connectivity (internet facility). These phone users will be pleasantly surprised to know that Hike has launched today ‘Hike Direct’ that allows transmission of instant messages without the help of internet. The facility is available for all the popular platforms, viz. Android, iOS and Windows. The only constraint however is that it works only within a radius of 100 metres.
You may be aware, Hike Messenger has improved its popularity pretty steadily since its inception some three years ago. It claims to have around 70 million subscriber as of today, with 20 billion messages exchanged per month, making it the second most popular messaging service in India. The Hike Direct launched today allows its users to chat, exchange stickers, transfer photos and even transfer heavy files of up to 40 MB instantly at a fairly high speed. The app allows the smartphone to connect directly with one another within a radius of 100 metres by telecom network. An Android user can get this feature today itself by upgrading to the latest version of Hike, viz. version 4.0.6 (Hike Direct) from Google Play Store and start using it.
While launching the app, Kavin Mittal, Founder & CEO, Hike, explained, “Hike Direct has been built on breakthrough technology that adds a whole new dimension to messaging enabling hikers to chat and share files with their friends without the internet and without incurring any data charges. One can get speeds up to 40 Mbps when chatting and sharing files through hike direct. Data or no data, hike will always work. It’s incredibly powerful.”
