It is expected that this smart-phone is going to give a tough fight to the existing players in the Indian smart-phone market.
There was a time when people preferred to go for smaller mobile phones. Thereafter, developed a liking for big-screen smart-phones – 5”, 6” and still more. The idea was to have a bigger screen for greater clarity and easy access. At the present stage, the craze has shifted for thinner models with larger screens. Gadget lovers’ preference has predictably changed for good looking thinner gadgets with screen big enough to do many of the tasks ordinarily done on the laptops.
In the race for the slimmest phone, Gionee’s Elife S5.1 (5.1 mm) and Oppo’s RS (44.85 mm) ruled the roast. The credit for the slimmest phone has now been taken over by China’s Vivo, which came out with its X5Max – a handset that measures an incredible 4.75 mm. Surprising indeed! The announcement for launching of X5Max handset was made recently at an event in China. It will be available for sale in China beginning 22nd December 2014, and will be priced at CNY 2998 – or roughly Rs 30,000 in terms of Indian currency. The device will be available soon in the Indian market.
X5Max has a decent look with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen and a 3.98 mm narrow bezels. Made of magnesium alloy coupled with stainless steel body and high-end internals, the device appears attractive. The anti-fingerprint coating adds to the gadget’s clean glimmering exterior. It has YAMAHA YSS-205X digital surround signal processing chip (SABRE ES9601 DAC) and TI’s OPA1612 amplifier for better audio output. Vivo is powered by an Octa-Core 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 GPU. It operates on Funtouch OS 2.0 based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). The gadget flaunts a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash in the rear. The front-facing camera has a 5-megapixel lens.
The smart-phone has dual SIM support, a micro SIM and a nano SIM that doubles up as a microSD slot when the user wants to use the secondary slot. It supports 4G connectivity as well. The device has a 3.5mm audio jack with interlocking design to fit its thin frame.
It is expected that this smart-phone is going to give a tough fight to the existing players in the Indian smart-phone market.
