Xiaomi’s Mi series of phones have made a mark in the smartphone market in recent times. Now the rumour is afloat about Xiaomi Mi5 hitting the market as early as the middle of this month – to be specific, on the 15th January, 2015. This is likely to be in an event organised at Beijing National Convention Centre in China. The President of the Company has reportedly said: ‘There is no better way to start 2015 than with our newest products.’
In fact, Xiaomi did reveal last month that it would launch a new flagship device during January, 2015. As regards the phone, it is said to be very thin – thin bezels, a thin chassis and a 5.7 inch QHD ((2560×1440 pixels) display, 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. The gadget with its 16MP rear and 8MP front cameras will be specially acceptable to those with a leaning for photography. It further has 3GB eMMC 5.0 LP-DDR3 RAM, 16GB/64GB ROM and a fingerprint sensor, and would support global 4G LTE-FDD bands. The phone is backed up with 3600mAh Lithium-ion polymer battery.

With significantly larger display as compared to its predecessor s and an extremely dense resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (515 ppi) the handset is likely to be fairly popular. While Xiamo directed its earlier products to the East, this time the targets are the West, with special focus on the U.S. and UK.
