Anyone having some understanding of the present breed of smart-phones must be aware of the Chinese giant, Xiaomi. The Xiaomi smart phones are gradually making dents in the international market, and are slowly capturing some of the spaces of well-known branded mobiles. The Company’s corporate office and the Headquarters are based at Beijing. It is considered to be the fifth largest smart-phone maker in the world
In the light of gradual acceptability of Xiaomi’s products in the International market and the consequent growth in business, the Company with a view to give greater push to its market has planned to move out its international user data and the cloud services out of Beijing. It has made a beginning, and has shifted some user data and services to Amazon’s availability zones in Singapore and the US. This is done partly on account of preparing services such as Messaging, e-Commerce, etc. for the benefit of international users. It would additionally help comply with the requisite data protection regulations in markets other than Chinese.

The current spate of shifting of data and current server is also attributed to the company’s objective of cutting down latency and failure rates. It has in this connection signed up with content distribution network provider Akarnai. It is expected that the process of migration will be concluded by the end of this month, which would benefit users in all of the company’s international markets, more specially, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan. The difference is services is perceptible now with website speed boosting to more than 30 per cent in several markets like Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc. In India, however, the speed boosting has been to the extent of 200 per cent.
With the completion of the migration of key services and data, the Company expects to accelerate its growth still further. Time will show how the objectives of the company fulfills.
