KTM RC390 and Ninja 300 are ruling in middle-weight Supersport bike category. But now these bikes gets a tough competitor from Yamaha called YZF-R3, which is a game changer for Yamaha. This bike is now available for sale in India at a price tag of Rs 3.25 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Yamaha's R series bikes are a pleasure to ride and YZF-R3 is also to give the same experience. The only negative point about the bike is that it does not come with ABS.
Engine & Performance:
The Yamaha R3 has a 321 cc, 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valves engine which comes with fuel injection. The engine is very powerful and returns maximum power of about 41.4 BHP and maximum torque of about 29.6 NM. These power values are surprising and are way ahead when compared to the others in the segment. Also, the performance of Yamaha R-series bikes has always been excellent. The engine gets a 6-speed, constant mesh gearbox. The bike is quick & responsive and the top speed is around 190 kmph. The mileage of this sport bike is however very less, just around 22.4 kmpl.

The Yamaha YZF-R3 is very well designed with good look and tough assembly. The bike is designed with the popular R series design philosophy. The bike has sharp edges and also possesses an iconic sharp tail-light. The front of this bike is pretty unique with uniquely designed headlights and a perfectly placed visor. The exhaust is short in length but is perfectly shaped. The console of the R3 is a mixture of analog & digital with a hexagonal tachometer.
